Groupthink & Social Masking

Long before humans ever had a need to begin using psychological masks as individuals we were already operating under the larger auspices of social masking known as the hive mentality.  I pretty much conjure that it all started when humans began forming social collectives and living together for protection...think cave men.  Prehistoric Earth was a much harder place to get by in than today, so that protection became a very high priority.  If you wished to have the protection and companionship of the group, you most likely went along with whatever the head honcho decreed, which come to think of it is still working real well these days.  Being "blackballed" from the tribe might not be so bad nowadays but back then I'm pretty certain it was a time-release death penalty.

The patterns were formed and the programming became 'hardwired'- Safety in numbers, and we have pretty much been communal creatures ever since.  Back in the 60's, some communes of free thinkers began sprouting up as those tired of the hive mind left the cities to create hives of their own, allowing in only like minded thinkers.  Kinda like trading one hive mind for another one...think upgrades.  The hippies were the first in modern times to recognize the true potential of the hive mind, if focused on spirit rather than greed.  You see, we really are hardwired to work as a collective, it's known as the collective consciousness, and the collective unconscious.  These are the avenues of unity consciousness, which is what we are striving for in this consciousness driven revolution.
Unfortunately for us today; this capacity for unity consciousness has been long ago hijacked, and deformed into something more conducive to breeding compliant slaves to serve the hijackers.   By deliberately exploiting a natural human tendency toward collective thinking, the 'elitists' down thru history have always sought to manipulate and even program our thinking to their liking.  Maybe that's why today all of the worlds newspapers, radio & TV stations are owned by just three corporations; and why "clear channel" and Homeland Insecurity are seeking to control all of it.
I well remember the swarm of psychological self-analysis books that appeared around 1970, such as Future Shock by Alvin Toffler, and The Primal Scream, by Arthur Janov. Self-help was all the rage that year as so many folks tried to find some middle ground between the communes and the corporations, some fertile mental realm where sanity still prevailed.  It was 18 months later when another groundbreaking writer, & social psychologist Irving Janis appeared on the scene, with his early research on the hive mind, "Victims of Groupthink." Ten years later came his seminal work on the subject: "Groupthink; Psychological studies of policy decisions and fiascos," wherein he pioneered research into the existence and dynamics of the hive mentality in modern culture.  Janis described groupthink as a kind of rationalized conformity wherein individuals waived critical thinking in favor of majority rule, often with undesired results.  Janis described groupthink this way;  "The more amiability & esprit de corps there is among a policy making ingroup, the greater the danger that independent critical thinking will be replaced by groupthink which is likely to result in irrational & dehumanizing actions directed against outgroups."
The terms groupthink, ingroup & outgroup stem from and are derivative of George Orwell's classic "1984" which gave us such terms as doublethink, and newspeak used as to identify with authority.  Certainly Janis is not the only one to have drawn inspiration from Orwell's work, but was the first one to see and understand the phenomenon of groupthink well established in society.    Janis' book remains the quintessential research on the hive mind, and has established the eight symptoms of groupthink, as follows:
1.~ Illusion of invulnerability; where excessive optimism encourages extreme risk.
2.~ Collective Rationalization, the ignoring of warnings & failure to consider alternatives.
3.~ Belief in inherent morality; where the members of the group believe that being right    exempts them from ethical and moral consequences of their decision.
4.~ Stereotyped views of outgroups; creates & sustains a negative view of the "enemy".
5. ~ Direct pressure on Dissenters; constant peer pressure not to argue with or question the groups or leaders views.
6.~ Self-Censorship; members decline to express their own doubts or misgivings.
7.~ Illusion of Unanimity; where the majority view is assumed to be unanimous.
8. ~ Self-appointed 'Mindguards' -  where the members protect the leader & group from problematic information, new views etc. etc.

If you are looking for examples of the groupthink fiasco dynamic you have but to review some American political/military history.  Pearl Harbor, Bay of Pigs, escalation of Vietnam war, Iran hostage rescue, ramp-up to wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, weapons of mass destruction debacle, U.S. involvement in the Islamic revolution in Egypt, Libya and Syria...and that's just the short list.  On the civilian side there is the IRS, CPS, DMV, & PTA, JDL, ADA and many other groups who want to tell us how to think, and just who the "real enemy" really is...and we march to the beat of their drums at the expense of all our futures, and the futures of our grandchildren.  We are currently marching lockstep into the oblivion of the trans-human agenda being perpetrated by global elitist groupthink which never deviates from its goal of control.
When I was just a little whippersnapper as gramps used to call me, Television was just beginning it's assault on the human mind, as the status of groupthink demanded everyone should have one...and now nearly everyone in America does.  Currently 96.7 % of American homes have at least one TV set.  The revolution will be televised.  The rational mind might well ask "when is enough, enough?" Trouble is that rational minds are not welcome in groupthink, so it becomes a moot point.
Television became the greatest facilitator of groupthink since the invention of radio as it allowed the elites easy access to the mind of the American consumer sheep...
And this is how it looks!
Nothing from outside is allowed inside the Bubble

If you aren't controlling your thoughts someone will do it for you.

"Reason is the greatest enemy faith has ever had"

"A man is but the product of his thoughts~what he thinks, he becomes."
                                                                    ~Mahatma Gandhi~

To those who never have enough, there is no such thing as enough control over the population and so they have come to exploit every single human instinct, tendency & weakness they can identify, starting with the brain.  They have mapped our genomes and our brains, discovering just what makes us tick; and how we are most likely to react given any specific stimulus.  They invented neuro-lingustic programming to perfect the science of syntax, suggestion and programming, then set it loose in academia to wreck its havoc and strengthen groupthink.  The so called education system is in reality nothing more than boot camp for groupthink.  Look at all the clubs, teams, & groups which exist as part of the structure, then add in the social cliques and "ingroups" and hell, I am amazed any of us escaped with our wits intact.  Seriously folks, these guys aren't gonna be satisfied until they've turned us all into the Borg!

To our unconscious minds groupthink must seem a safe and reassuring place, kinda like the caves our ancestors once lived in, there is safety in numbers.  There is also anonymity within groupthink, the kind that can result in much trauma to the soul when faced with the frequently horrific outcomes of groupthink.  If you taped an American flag on your car and yelled "bring it on" as you pounded your chest right after 9-11 then you also bear some of the responsibility for every death resulting from groupthink allowing us to be lied into two un-necessary wars.  If you haven't screamed bloody murder over these and numerous other outrages every day of these long 12 years, then some of that blood is on your hands for allowing it to happen in silence.  No apologies, that's just how I see it.  Every closed mind and silent mouth only enables our overseers more, and strengthens the stranglehold of groupthink and the hive mind.
When one considers the impact of groupthink upon the men we sent to fight in those wars for loot & plunder, and the psyche-fracturing resulting from participating in atrocities, is it any wonder we have such record numbers of desertions and suicides?  Maybe something worth thinking about on this anniversary of the My-Lai massacre in Vietnam 45 years ago.  Groupthink was wrong on every reason for sending those men over there and when they return groupthink just dumps them back into society without any time or therapy to help de-fuse, de-program or re-sensitize them.  Whats one more injustice?  Whats one more atrocity? Whats one more Vet who kills himself because he fears hurting his loved ones?  That IS why they do it - not because they can't hack it; just so you know.
What are you gonna say when your grandchild asks what you did to resist our world being taken over by stone cold psychopaths?  How will you account for your silence and acquiescence to something you felt was wrong, and evil?  It is very quickly coming down to the final struggle between groupthink and worldsoul...would you have us go out on our knees, whimpering as conquered slaves, or on our feet fighting for our birthright to this planet?
As I am so fond of saying,
Knowledge is power, Ignorance is bliss ~ Pick One!

Have you been paying attention to the youth of today, the Gen-Xers?  Have you noticed how much more disaffected and depressed about the future they seem? Or noticed all the little ways they show disdain for this society; the full body tattoos & multiple body piercing?  How about their affection for extreme everything, including risk taking, have you noticed any of that?  To me these are all signs of a sub-strata of society who have seen, felt and tasted groupthink.  They know what it is and they want no part of it, so they've splintered off into their own custom hive mind in revolt.  Sound familiar?

I think the salient point in all this is simple: if the Gen-Xers can escape groupthink, so can we, and we already have the alternative right there waiting for us ~ Unity Consciousness.  Just like Neo in the Matrix, we must claw & scratch our way out of the induced slumber of groupthink, disconnect the tubules used to drip feed their mind numbing poison into us, and break free from the influence.  Its just another addiction to kick, about the biggest one yet, and kick it we must.

We really don't have a choice, we either evolve to exist in the higher frequency realms,
or remain right exactly here, as slaves.  Pick One!
And of course the very best example of groupthink and the hive mentality is the internet.  Here we have the mother of all groupthinks, complete with its myriad specialized subgroups.  The drug of immediate gratification & feedback being built into the very design of the internet was the clincher, we were hooked instantly.  Whether in a chat room, surfing the web, live-action-role-playing video games, or just cat videos...the internet came along just as we were getting bored with television to ensure that our owners would maintain control well into the future, and then they would own that too. The internet is the ultimate social mask, and therefore a perfect artificial hive mind for us to inhabit after the eventual demise of television, you know, when we all get our implants!  If the internet is our new structure for groupthink, then the perfect, most obvious command center is most certainly Facebook.  Here you save the overlords enormous time & expense by willingly volunteering to snitch yourselves out every fifteen minutes throughout the day...and night.  You tell them exactly which items you wish to see advertisements for as well as every trivial little thing that crosses your mind.  Indeed Facebook is the world capitol for those who never have an un-expressed thought.  If you ever have any doubts about the intention of Zuckerberg in creating Facebook, you have only to look up the You Tube video where a female interviewer goads him into taking off his trademark hoodie.  Get yourself a real good look at the logo on the inside of the garment.  Consider it a homework assignment.
What can possibly explain and account for so many millions of people worldwide subconsciously subscribing to the clear channel mantra of groupthink?  What kind of power keeps so many so silent for so long?  Fear, that's what.  Although nobody has figured out a way to quantify it; fear remains the standard unit of measure across the globe, it is truly an equal opportunity oppressor.  It is the fear of being the outcast, the one voted out of the cave in 10,000 BC that keeps us in line.  We have been programmed to believe we cannot make it on our own, without the support of the 'group' and the programming is stronger now than ever before because of upgrades in the technology of subversion, and reinforcement.  It's constant, it's everywhere, and the best you can do is manage to escape it for a few hours now & then by immersing yourself in wild nature.

We so fear failure that we will gladly sacrifice almost anything to avoid it.  On some inner level we each know groupthink is not the answer, that we've been hijacked from our first best destiny, but the only thing worse that being locked into groupthink is to be totally alone, on your own, with no direction home; now that truly terrifies us.  We fight our fear with the warm security which complacency offers and convince ourselves that conformity ensures success.  Classic indicators of groupthink, catch-22; circular logic on a not-so-merry-go-round that just goes faster every day.  We inherited a collective set of mantras to strengthen our conditioning and they remain in place even today.  Stuff like: Curiosity killed the cat - My country, right or wrong - You can't fight city hall - to get along, go along - Nobody likes a smart ass - You ain't paid to think -  The daily grind - the rat race; and so on.  Every time one of these mantras goes unchallenged the conditioning is reinforced, the chains grow tighter, and our futures grow dimmer.

We must do better than only being drawn together by mutual fear;
Unity cures Separation

Fortunately for all of us, there is a way out of this quagmire, but it isn't simple and it won't be easy or comfortable on many levels.  Our salvation lies within our oppressors greatest weapon of control...the internet.  If we'd all just use it the way it's possible to use it; we can awaken one another, give on going moral support to each other, & speak truth to power at every turn.  We can extract our civilization from the gridlock of groupthink and the conditioned hive mentality; and return it to a path more of our choosing.  We can act as a free thinking group, seize the internet and Facebook then use them to help facilitate the manifestation of Unity Consciousness across the entirety of humanity.  You do recall I said it wouldn't be easy.  About as easy as cutting down a California Redwood with our teeth...these bastards are dug in like ticks, and have been sucking us dry for generations.  Their infrastructure is elaborate and complex, but it's also old and vulnerable.  Most of all their infrastructure depends upon our general apathy and acquiescence to succeed.  If enough waking dreamers start raising merry hob at the right times and in the right places the infrastructure of groupthink begins to collapse.  We have to manage doing that; and then sustain it into a spark, then nurse that spark into a prairie fire that sweeps across the collective unconsciousness of humanity, burning out the synaptic responses of groupthink and overmind.
This is not work for the marginally committed or the commitment challenged.  The overmind of groupthink is obsessed with power at a time when their hour upon the stage is nearly over.  Overmind is determined to continue milking humanities resources at any cost.  They aren't packing up and quitting just because a few of the sleeping dreamers are on to them.  Its gonna take more than harsh language and deferred anger to win the day, and our futures, back from the groupthink of overmind.  It requires uncommon valor, and a fearlessness that is a rare commodity in these days of CYA & looking out for number one.   I used to think that any day now the hero gene would kick in, humanity would awaken simultaneously as if on cue, escape from groupthink and embrace unity.  With each new atrocity against the Earth and humanity I was just so sure we were seeing the catalyst event for the tipping point...but it never happened.  No spark, no prairie fire.  Then one night during meditation it hit me.  The reason we haven't seen that spark of heroism arise in humanity is because it no longer exists.   You see, we are not the descendants of those brave, fearless ones who left the cave to face the challenges of a Neolithic world; they all died or were eaten.  Their genes didn't survive to be passed down.  No, our ancestors were the terrified ones cowering in fear at the back of the cave.  This is who we are, this is where we came from.  Maybe that hero gene is only dormant, not dead.  Maybe we can somehow awaken it, rouse it from slumber in time to claw our way out of groupthink and back on track to a community of unity.
We must remember that energy follows thought, thought becomes belief, and belief creates our reality, and that reality forms our destiny.  Using this "Destiny Formula" we must individually & collectively start focusing our intentions, visualizing the world we would rather exist in, and then create that world, not with groupthink, but with collective consciousness, and love. Its either that, or ... pretty much hell on Earth.  Pick One!

The Grand Masquerade

Almost from birth the stress and pressures of incarnating into human form begin taking their toll on our personality.  Long before we even have a clue as to who we are, we sense that our very sensibilities are under assault from many divergent sources.  Our parents, teachers and friends all have a set of parameters which they expect us to form ourselves into.  Even as we attempt to reconcile our undiscovered selves with those parameters set down for us, we begin creating and using masks to gain acceptance and avoid corrective measures...to buy us the time we need to figure things out.  In the process, we of course begin to realize that parents, teachers and friends are also pretty good at using masks in their dealings with one another.  We notice how differently they seem than when dealing with us.  Next thing you know, nobody knows who anyone else in the family really is.
Our life partners also have expectations of us which we attempt to live up to.  We find these social pressures in every phase of our life, and the older we get, the more complex and interwoven they become until one day we awake to the reality that we are wearing different masks in differing situations, depending on what is expected of us.  We take this epiphany with a grain of salt because we also realize everyone else is doing exactly the same thing for pretty much the same reasons.  We don these various masks as a kind of temporary safe haven from life's little pressures and stress.  They are a convenient way to communicate to those around us that we have things under control when in reality, we do not. The wearing of masks becomes almost mandatory in today's workplace, and so we are swept along thru life collecting and using these masks, long since forgetting they began as a temporary solution. These many different masks we all wear are a physical manifestation of the popular philosophy of "Fake it till ya make it"- they are a shortcut we use instead of actually doing the work of becoming the person the mask says we are.
In a way these various masks we wear are like little lies we're asking others to believe about us.  Because it is so expedient we allow these masks to run interference for us in the web of our various relationships...often becoming a different person depending upon surroundings, like human chameleons.  Unless we are aware of and manage them; these masks we wear eventually become a slick replacement for an actual personality. We wear them to protect our vulnerabilities, to conceal our pain, true feelings or motives, and to outright deceive others.  We wear them like we do sun glasses, to protect & defend, and to conceal our true identity & personality or to conceal the fact we don't have either.  Sometimes even love is a mask, as we seek to have security and meaning in our life, hence the new terms to our lexicon like 'starter husband', and 'trophy wife', indeed even as we all silently and openly acknowledge "the game of life" the game of love is the game within the game, and to play it, we all wear our share of masks.
In Jeanne Avery's book "The Rising Sign; your Astrological Mask" she explains how the ascendant in our natal chart actually serves as the mask thru which we allow others to see us.  Indeed, maybe that explains why hiding behind masks is nearly second nature to us.  Young girls are taught to hide behind the mask of make-up while little boys are taught to hide behind the mask of bravery & competence.  We hide our pain behind the mask of a smile and conceal our fear & vulnerability with the mask of anger, and most of all we hide our disappointment with ourselves under the mask of happiness.  Like Chinese nesting dolls, we have buried our true selves beneath so many masks that it takes work and patience to find our real, authentic self.  Ego is a mask, wealth is a mask, aggression is a mask, superiority is a mask, victim mentality is a mask, and politics is nothing but masks.  All too often our words are also masks we hide behind, as when we use pleasant or clever  phonaesthetics to conceal our true meaning, or the true nature of things: i.e. seeing a sky full of chemtrails and calling it a partly cloudy day.
The wearing of masks began as a necessity in childhood, and because those childhood fears are so highly resistant to adult logic, we have kept them, allowed everyone else to keep theirs, with the silent agreement that nobody ever calls anyone else for hiding behind a mask.  We have turned the game of life into a full-time masquerade ball where just trying to figure out who everyone really is becomes a major challenge, and trying to make sense of things is nearly impossible.  Is it really any wonder why disassociative identity disorder (formerly called multiple personality disorder) is so common?  The mental health hospitals everywhere are brimming over with people who have lost themselves in the maze of their own defense mechanisms.  Maybe we should really look at that.  Maybe now would be a good time for a mask bonfire; seeing as we have entered the new golden age of Aquarius...seems appropriate.
As we can see there are many reasons why we all wear these masks, and it has everything to do with choices made early in life.  Most folks don't realize just how powerful a thing choice is, or that there are actually three levels of choice.  The first level of choice consists of those things that comprise our belief system and basic self image.  The second level of choice includes short term decisions & choices ranging out to several months in the future.  The third level of choice consists of long-range planning, goals and life path choices.  At first glance this all seems well and good, but there exists a hidden thorn in the three levels of choice, and that is: No second or third level choice can exceed the limits of the first level of choice.  Adolescence can be a very tough and challenging period of time as many of us can readily attest to and yet it is precisely this period of time when most of us formed our first level of choice.  Out of all the various pressures encountered in adolescence that lead to our first level choices perhaps the worst is the pressure to be a winner.  Everybody loves a winner, and society rewards winners handsomely, everybody wants to be a winner!  Of course the trouble is that not everybody gets to be a winner.  It takes lots of time, work and competition to be a winner ... especially competition, not to mention luck; and thru it all your mask must never slip.  Tons of pressure.  Well let's just see here, other than winners, what else ya got?  Ah, yes...the losers;  Nobody loves a loser, especially society, which is why nobody wants to become one.  OK, what ya got other than winners & losers?  For those who can't be winners and don't want to be losers there is the wonderful land of in-between called just getting by.
Visualize a typical disenfranchised  youth during this critical period of creating their first level choices.  The road to being a "winner" is long and hard, meeting everyone's expectations & demands of you is exhausting, and, some folks just don't get the whole concept of 'better than' and competition.  So they choose to not be a winner, or a loser; but to just float thru life in the middle, half-way between, the path of least resistance.  Now this might be well enough except for that nagging little thorn, the universal law that says no subsequent level of choice can exceed the limits set by the first level of choice.  Without knowing or realizing it, so many have crippled their own future and destiny with the choices made when they were young, confused and in pain.  Years down the road we forget that 'deal' we made with the universe, and cannot seem to fathom why we don't get that deserved promotion, or why we just can't seem to "win" no matter how hard we may try.  We forget that we opted out of the winners circle and can't understand what invisible power is holding us stagnant in the middle between success & failure.  Now ponder this for a moment: if the thoughts and choices of a traumatized youth are that powerful...imagine the power of the choices you can make now that you have learned so much more than that child knew!
The good news in all of this is that those first level choices made so long ago will operate at that level until we change them; and you can change them any time you want now that you know where to look!  I said you can change that programming, I never said it will be easy though, because it isn't.  There will be years of false assumptions to discard as well as a butt load of low self esteem issues to dump.  It will also take acknowledging to ourselves that nobody outside of us is responsible for the outcome of those choices which held us back all these years.  As you dig down to the core self to access that first level choice and upgrade its programming, you will be peeling back the layers of self-deception and defense mechanisms...and tossing masks upon the bonfire of the vanities.

As it is nowadays we might as well be the people in the movie "Surrogates"- that's how insulated we've become from one another as we all embraced the biggest mask of them all, the internet.  Just like Halloween; on the internet we can be whoever we want to be right down to icon & avatar...and best of all you can do it every day of the year, not just one.    But should you venture outside beneath the daily dosage of calming chemtrails long enough to say "hello" to a passing stranger, the look on their face will tell you all you need to know.  We are a fractured and splintered society; so intricately involved in supporting & maintaining that crafted image of ourselves we allow others to see that we sometimes lose touch with our true authentic self.  That is when panic & desperation can creep in, allowing the ego to quietly assert itself.*
If we are not confident enough now to live without our masks, after all the work and spiritual progress we've gained, maybe we never will be.  What a loss of potential that would be.  Giving up our masks feels too risky, the thought of it makes us feel vulnerable but give them up we must each in the fullness of time, as directed through the heart from the soul.  We just have to be as motivated as we were when we laid in the original programming, that's all.  I guess I just have a hard time seeing how continued dependence on our social & psychological masks fits in with our spiritual evolution which depends upon us knowing who we are.  Everybody bitches about all the phony people in this world yet nobody thinks they are one of them...it must be the new math?

Naturally, media and advertising are right there to exploit & reinforce our masks.  For the women it's "you're too fat, too thin, too plain, too short, too tall" with a dizzying array of beauty products to solve any (pre-packaged) problem with your looks.  While for the men it's "Drive this, drink that, shave with this & splash this on afterward...and these hot supermodels will all go home with you." They sell us our masks just like they sell us our religion & politics - very carefully designed to reinforce the feelings of separation & competition.  The thing the powers that be fear the most is humanity having a unified collective consciousness, and we cannot achieve that as long as we're still content to rely on these various masks we use to get through life.
It's perhaps easy to see how we took to using masks, as they appear in the cultures of a great many peoples across the planet.  Masks are highly sought after by collectors, we see them almost everywhere in one form or another, they are ingrained into our very subconscious minds, they seem natural to us.  When we actually put on a real mask the anonymous nature of the thing can actually empower us to explore areas of emoting we might normally avoid, or never think of.  Ceremonial masks often represent qualities & attributes we wish to embody into ourselves, such as a Hanuman mask for example.  Even so, masks are designed for temporary use, to be removed when finished...not pressed into service as a shield against reality.

So here we all are hurdling thru space at 17 thousand miles an hour each of us hiding some or all of our true nature behind an elaborate array of masks.  Everybody pretends to be O.K. when we're not.  Everybody pretends to know what its all about but none of us really do.  We keep donning these masks and going through the motions just as we were taught to do, because nobody ever told you that you could choose something else instead.  We've been doing these things for so many generations now that to openly criticize the government we must hide behind the anonymous mask. Because we don't want to be recognized for standing up for freedoms guaranteed us in writing.  Because we fear the repercussions. Because we don't want to lose face.

Go figure, maybe that's why they call this place "the grand illusion"!

The Butterfly Effect

A few years ago I had the opportunity to go back to the "old neighborhood" I grew up in and have me a look around.  I am usually not the type who goes for nostalgia, but it had been so long, and I was a bit curious.  The first pass was just a slow drive down 53rd st. to take in the big picture and compare it to the one in my memory.  As I cruised down the street nearly everyone who was outside paused long enough to glance at me.  I wasn't driving anything that would draw the eye; it was just everyone knew that car didn't "belong" in that neighborhood.  The place was still so familiar, yet so changed.  My eyes were drawn to the houses all my friends used to live in, and the memories flowed like Sonoma county wine.  When I got to the house I grew up in I noticed that the next door neighbor was just coming out of the garage to wash his truck...I looked closer, by gosh, it was Mr. Baer, father of my old friend from next door, Jim.I parked by the curb and slowly got out, Mr. Baer already giving me a good looking over.  Across the street I could see Mrs. Hale, looking my way, framed by the front door threshold.  It was great to see these old familiar faces, and I felt a warm grin growing on my face as I approached my former neighbor.  He had not recognized me yet, and was squinting a bit in the bright sunlight.  He laid down his bucket & brush and in a familiar southern drawl he says "If yer sellin somethin ya can just get back in that car Mister!"

I politely removed my shades & ball cap, still smiling, and said, "Hi Mr. Baer, can Jimmy come out & play?"  It took a few seconds before I could see the light of recognition in his face...the smile I'd expected, missing in action.  "Well I'll be damned" he said, "Once you moved to Alaska we figured we'd seen the last of ya!...whatever brings ya back to the old neighborhood?"  He continued what he was doing as we spoke and before long I was up to date on the recent history of this place which had been my home so very long ago.  I made a point of stopping to briefly visit with a couple more of the old guard neighbors before I took my leave of this sojourn down memory lane, and their enthusiasm was on a par with Mr. Baer's.
I can well remember how I felt driving away from that place for what I knew would be the last time.  I felt disconnected, barely remembered (despite some historic hell-raising as a kid) but most of all I remember feeling that all the 'time' I'd put in there ended up meaning little, or nothing in the long run.  With no family still living in that neighborhood it was little more than a hologram of my youth, with no connection to my present, or future.  I recall that feeling so well because it is the same one I'm feeling right now, as we collectively try to get our bearings in this new age of Aquarius.  We are out beyond the reach of history: and the things, ideas, & solutions which helped us arrive here are now about as much help as a burned out booster rocket.  With each new day humanity travels deeper into this undiscovered country of the future where the only footprints are the ones we're making.  There are no signposts to guide us, indeed it looks as though WE will be the pathfinders in this new land; and unfortunately the best help history can give us now is a sense of what doesn't work.

That odd, unfamiliar sound you've been hearing in your soul is the noise of the old paradigm collapsing, failing & dying all around us, even as the new world is so close we can hear the wing beats of passing angels and manifesting thought-forms.  This is the moment in time just before the chrysalis opens: the time when the caterpillar thinks he's dying and the butterfly knows it's being born.  Nothing that the caterpillar knows is of use to the new born butterfly, so he flies away from the chrysalis, never looking back.  Unlike the butterfly, we need to look back upon the path that got us here and understand that to continue on it IS the death that the caterpillar fears.  The evolution of humanity is happening right now; and as we struggle to free ourselves from the cocoon of old, dying thought forms and undying greed, others seek to derail & deny the evolutionary process, and enslave us.
Just as the butterfly cannot return to what it was, neither can we if what we seek is the freedom to evolve as we will in the absence of tyranny.  Those who would capture & enslave us regard us with about the same esteem as a collector who displays those specimens coming out of a kill jar.  To them we are as insects who have no right to our lives or futures, here only for their amusement and exploitation.  How can we look at all the wholesale rape & pillaging going on in places like Africa, the mid-east, and south America without also seeing that it is, in fact, being done to the planet, and us?  Here in the west we drank the kool-aid a long time ago, and with it, the notion that America is immune from the things that plague other countries.

Those who seek to hijack this spiritual evolution know exactly what they are doing.  They have monitored & studied every last habit and preference of every last individual on Earth just as the fisherman studies what makes the fish bite.  They bombard us with non-stop images of war, death, disease, lust, greed and hatred to sap our will to resist them; then poison our skies and food to remove us from the equation altogether.  To keep us content in our ignorance we are given an endless streaming of mindless excrement, custom tailored to each person's tastes.  It wasn't hard to accomplish.  First they ever so gradually reduced the quality of "programming" to a common denominator somewhere between Homer Simpson & Judge Judy; then they determine what to advertise to you by reading your emails and credit card purchases.  Because they don't want us getting any funny ideas about freedom, we are not allowed to see what is going on right now in places like Iceland and Greece, where people are putting it all on the line for freedom.   Instead we get a never ending series of manufactured political crisis's one after another, carefully crafted to demoralize & confuse us so we don't see the magician at work behind the curtain...and don't give voice to any critical or questioning thoughts.
The great science fiction writer Ray Bradbury first brought up the concept of the butterfly effect (in the short story "A Sound of Thunder") as a way of showing that small changes in one location can have enormous effects later in places far distant.  This ripple effect is a sensitive dependency on initial conditions, and much like Fukushima, helps to illustrate that Gaia is a living organism and that what affects one, affects all.  I look around, taking in all that is happening during this Aquarian sunrise, and I wonder if this great spiritual awakening we see is perhaps the first wing flaps as the butterfly emerges from the cocoon; and what mighty winds of change might grow from it.  Not only must we extract ourselves from the now empty husk of the cocoon, we must leave it behind & fly away on new wings into this brave new world we know so little about.

Just as the butterfly begins its new life without consulting the wisdom of the caterpillar: we too must realize that the past cannot guide our decision making in the future, beyond the categories of bad example and doesn't work, anyway.  This moment in time is why we spent so much time working on ourselves, this is what we were all preparing for; it's why we took the course of study which included facing our fears and trusting our instincts.  All the newly born butterfly knows is; that it must fly to survive.  Like us humans it doesn't have a map either, and must rely upon instinct to navigate a world in the upheaval of transformation.
Because we know on some inner level that we're navigating without a map, (much less an owners manual) we're just milling about waiting for the scoutmaster to come along and show us the way, when we should be networking with others to figure out how to hasten the departure of those who enslave us to slow the death of their dying paradigm.  We remain indifferent at our own peril because we falsely believe our silence will somehow magically exclude us from the fate of the masses, and allow us to keep our shiny possessions even as everyone else looses theirs.  Our natural predilection to self deception has proven to be one of the most powerful weapons the powers that be are using against us.  We can almost always be counted upon to prefer a custom made lie over the unadorned truth.  As the writer Brendan Gil once observed, "History records no struggle more noble or long enduring than that of humanity against the truth."

Just as Bradbury wrote in his story, very small changes can yield some extremely big results.  As is becoming more apparent by the day, we are the ones we've been waiting for to clean this mess up, so we'd better all start batting our wings like crazy to stoke up the winds of change.  We know we cannot rely upon the previous generation to save the world because when they had their chance they blew it. It would just be wrong on so many levels to flush the mess down stream to the next generation, so that pretty much leaves us...those of both the previous and next generations who are spiritually awake, to be the agents of change.  If not now, when?  If not Us, Who?
The only map we need for this new world resides within our hearts.  It will tell us which is true and which is a lie, and it will always lead us in the right direction if we will just listen.  Our hearts tell us the truth all the time: but as it so often happens, maybe that truth isn't always in alignment with the self deceptions we choose to live with so we subconsciously bury it.  This is the reason so many people are shallow breathers, because when we take in a full breath, fully extending the diaphragm, it somehow awakens those sleeping memories we avoid, and they stir around a bit, distracting us.  So we have learned to avoid discomfort by only using the top half of our lungs.  That is something else our dark overlords use against us, our universal aversion to emotional trauma.  They use it to exploit and control us on multiple levels.  They reinforce our self deceptions and their own negative conditioning by manipulating our aversion to emotional trauma.  That's why so much of what passes for entertainment these days seems to rely heavily on violence & trauma of all kinds, psychic numbing.  Conditioning.  Programming.  We are in the kill jar and sucking up the fumes!  We need to snap out of it as a species and take a pro-active approach to our collective survival.  We need to unplug from their TV wasteland and their electronic grid with its smart meters & Orwellian surveillance.  We need to wake up and smell the chloroform before the lid goes back on the jar.
As we gaze around and see the extent to which Earth is being stripped of resources, poisoned, & terra-formed; we cannot help but wonder what sort of fate awaits us in the overall agenda if we continue to do nothing?  Here's a clue.  The same people who dreamed up GMO foods & chemtrails have also quietly been getting patents on the very genes that comprise our DNA!  They want to own & control our behavior & our children.  By genetic engineering, nano-technology and implants they seek to transform humanity into a more docile and controllable product.  This trans-human agenda is the driving force behind many of the more bizarre things going on right under our noses and over our heads, and we can no longer afford the luxury of pretending we do not know something is terribly wrong here, and has been for a very long time.

Its the old boiling frog syndrome that works so well.  "They" always start small, and innocuous at first, like the drone program for example.  Almost nobody in America protested the introduction of drones on the battleground, or even their ethical implications.  That would have been the time for public outcry & indignation, but we remained silent.  Nowadays the damned things are infesting our skies and society to the point where people are now asking publicly whether or not the president has the authority to kill citizens on American soil with drones.  He doesn't need the authority, he has the drones!  And, because WE said nothing each time the program grew bigger, there is now no way to stop or even reverse it.  Our collective silence gave them our tacit approval, and it will be no different with the trans-human agenda.  Because we allowed them to introduce GMO foods and other pernicious DNA damaging elements into our food chain, they will now continue that program to its unholy fruition.  I was going to add, unless we act, to that last sentence, then it occurred to me that it might just be too late.
Because we failed to resist with sufficient vigor when we first saw these dystopian  programs beginning, they have now gained all the momentum necessary to fully manifest in time to deny our group destiny and keep us below the threshold of spiritual evolution.  That is what's at stake here, our destiny, evolution...our future.  Back in the days of the Vietnam war Americans filled the streets to protest in such numbers that they brought entire cities to a standstill for hours at a time.  If we could manage a turnout like that over a dirty little war, where is everyone now that we really need them, when everything is at stake?  Good question, eh?  We have been drugged, poisoned, programmed and intimidated into remaining silent because the powers that be also saw those many thousands of protestors filling the streets 45 years ago; and they knew that kind of unity could actually defeat them, and their agenda...and therefore must be removed from the equation.  We have now been marginalized to the point where we don't present much of a threat anymore.  We are docile, medicated and have cable TV ~ and so many shiny toys and gadgets to keep our minds full of anything but critical thought.
They say it's difficult to get someone to see something when their livelihood depends on them ignoring it.  The way things are going I am beginning to wonder if we will choose to see these things even when it's our survival at stake and not just our income.  We have been conditioned and intimidated into actually supporting those who actively seek our ultimate descent into slavery...we really gotta quit doing that.
The way I see things, we might just have an opportunity to escape the kill jar before the lid is clamped down, maybe...  Like I said, we have to unplug from the system & the grid, and then turn their own tactics against them; "death by a thousand cuts" which begins with our united refusal to do anything which benefits the overlords.  If we wish to effect great change during this age of Aquarius we had best start flapping our wings to set those winds of change in motion, otherwise we are likely to end up under glass with little pins sticking out of our bodies.

Till next time...Be Good to Each Other !

Video: FUKUSHIMA Consciousness: Set your Moral Compass

For some added depth & discussion on Fukushima I've re-posted the newest video from RadChick on the YouTube channel- ichicax4

Peaceful Blessings, and of course,
Be Good to Each Other!

Fukushima: The monster under our bed.

I sit back, thinking maybe if I distance myself enough perhaps the bigger picture will reveal itself to me; but alas, even that does not help me understand the seemingly planet wide denial regarding Fukushima.  Here we are approaching the two year anniversary of that continuously erupting nuclear volcano in Japan; and not only has no progress been made, but it's looking like no attempt at progress has been made.  In point of fact Tepco and the Japanese government have done many things which just make the disaster even worse.  It absolutely defies logic that the evacuation zones were rescinded, back to three miles from the laughably inadequate twelve miles, but they were!  I could scarcely believe it several months ago when Rense.com correspondent Yoichi Shimatsu reported that the Japanese government was collecting tsunami debris and burning it at many incineration sites across Japan. By burning already contaminated material you are essentially causing a re-release of fallout back into the environment, compounding the damage, both short & long term.  It sounds like self-inflicted genocide to keep the population in place and encourage them to eat contaminated food and ignore the fallout, but that is exactly what is happening.  Despite official denial, they say that Tokyo is now as badly contaminated in places as the town of Fukushima.
For nearly two years now Tepco has been dumping highly radioactive waste water directly into the Pacific ocean, in flagrant violation of international & environmental laws.  This of course does not include the plume of radiation which continues to be emitted from the site of three core meltdowns even as its tendrils of death continue encircling the Earth.  Meanwhile in the mainstream media there is scant mention of the worst environmental disaster Earth has seen since the Permian extinction.  Nary a word about the ever growing cloud of cancerous death enveloping the planet or the fact we have allowed the Japanese government & Tepco to effectively kill the Pacific ocean without so much as a wrist slap or fine...and we're fine with that it seems.  What scant reference there is in the mainstream media about Fukushima is engineered drivel to encourage folks to think the problem has just magically gone away.   It hasn't.

Those of us who inhabit "the left coast" of America understood right away what the score was when the government ordered the majority of west coast radiation detectors to be shut down a few days after the Nuclear Tsunami.  Not long after that; they very quietly raised the "safe" exposure levels to radioactive fallout.  How very considerate, they don't want to scare the sheep, at least not until after the fleecing.  When those whose livelihood depends on the fishing industry demanded the federal government begin testing Pacific caught fish, our government replied, "There is no need to do that."  To this day they haven't officially tested as much as a single salmon.  If they have, where are those results?  It just strikes me as perverse when both McDonalds and Wendy's are currently running commercials pushing their "Fishy" products and emphasizing the fish are "Alaskan Cod" and "North Pacific Cod."  Thanks for the honesty guys, but I'll pass.
I guess the same people who don't want to know if their food contains GMO's are the ones who still think of Alaskan Cod as a delicacy two years after Fukushima.  I know that both the official denial and the indifference of the population have the same exact nexus:

Nobody knows what to do or how to stop it.

We are up against the nightmare boogeyman monster of two generations, finally let loose like Godzilla to wreck havoc on Earth, and the best response we can manage is to still pull the covers up over our heads, hoping it just goes away.  It isn't going away, not ever, because we don't know how to make it do that.  Isn't that the plot to every Hollywood monster movie, mankind does something just because he can...without regard for public safety, or any clear idea of what to do if it all goes horribly wrong, as it inevitably does.  As it inevitably has.

So, here we are with our worst fears fully realized and both the populations and governments involved are curiously silent.  The government lies to us about everything,  why would we believe anything they say about Fukushima or radioactive fallout?  In this case I don't think we care about the lying, I think we prefer it that way.  The nation of Japan today is a mere shadow of  the powerhouse country it was just 26 months ago.  Both Tepco and the government of Japan have undergone changes in leadership and key personnel, as the nightmare there continues to cascade out of control.  Meanwhile the citizens of Japan have little choice but to suffer in place and fend for themselves as best they can, because their government has abandoned them, and much, much worse.  We would do well to remember that when it becomes our turn to embrace the horror.  Our government has already abandoned us, to think it will come running in to "save" us now is just the height of foolishness.
While both governments openly contend there is no long term danger from this radioactive fallout; recent events and facts seem to handily dispute such vacuous claims.  Recent private studies have found extraordinarily high levels of strontium 90 in Canadian milk.  Marine mammals in the North Pacific have recently been seen with open sores on their bodies, as well as genetic mutations.  Polar bears have been seen who are loosing patches of fur coat, and showing what look to be malignant growths on their bodies.  Other marine life are giving us signs as well if we will only open our eyes to see them.  Twice in recent weeks enormous pods numbering thousands of dolphins have been seen near San Diego. Large numbers of whales have also been seen at least once, again not a normal behavior for them. There are reports from the South Pacific as well, of both higher background radiation, and marine mammal mutations.  Evidently the radiation is traveling much faster that originally believed, and in fact is NOT being "dissipated" by ocean currents as our "experts" predicted.
Its one thing to flatly deny what is already happening, when verification is hard for the average Joe to come by; what will they tell us when its our babies being born with genetic mutations in radical numbers, and thousands of new cancer patients begin having their effect on the world economy?  What will they say then??  I wonder.  It is as inevitable as the nuclear accident itself that the health care costs alone will be enough to choke even the American economy in the fullness of time.  Here's another one I bet ya haven't spent a minute thinking about: What about the coming generation of sickly, mutated children...they are coming, have no doubt of that.  At first the government and media will lie and obfuscate the way they always do, but it won't work.  We will reach the point, be it in five years or twenty, when the "children of Fukushima" around the world will pose a crippling threat to any national economy.  Truly the total long range cost of this disaster is impossible to calculate...or even estimate.  Faced with such astronomical damage to our beloved money system will we let that determine the level of care given to these victims of our technical ineptitude & apathy?  I just wonder.
I'm not done just yet, there's more to consider, just as there always seems to be these days.  Have you flown anywhere recently?  The reason I ask is because radiation levels are higher the farther up you go, and its the nature of these particles to cling to metallic surfaces, like those on aircraft.  So, as an airliner flies through these wandering plumes of Fukushima radiation, the particles are absorbed by the skin of the aircraft, making it essentially a flying microwave oven for those inside.  Some of the first commercial airliners to land on the west coast after flying through the radiation were hosed down and scrubbed when detectors indicated high radiation levels.  The airlines don't do that in public anymore, it tends to un-nerve the sheep, hell, maybe they don't do it at all anymore, why bother, right?
Fukushima is the tipping point for future human survival on this planet, it's as simple as that.  No matter what else does or does not happen, everything will eventually be affected or killed by this erupting nuclear volcano unless we figure out a way to stop it; and therein lies the rub as they used to say, I believe there are those on both sides of the Pacific who don't want to stop this on-going disaster.  One of them is the billionaire George Soros who has been busily buying up everything in Tokyo he can get his grubby little fingers on and figuring out ways to cripple the Japanese economy even more than it already is.  This is not the kind of help that is needed or even called for, but it's the only help being offered or accepted just now.  Several other nations have offered to help in this crisis of planetary proportions...but Japan keeps turning them down.  Sounds suicidal to me, and given their wartime mentality, it fits.  So, nobody knows how to stop this disaster but they sure the hell have time to squeeze every bloody drop of profit out of it before getting around to trying to fix things. And WE, allow these psychopaths to remain in power year after year after year.

Can you just about imagine how some of Japan's neighbors feel about their dumping and burning of radioactive debris?  Dennis Rodman's new buddy in North Korea seems a perfectly sane and stable fellow to me, he probably doesn't even care about all the Japanese contamination hitting his little nation.  Both the sea of Japan and the East China sea are now so contaminated the only reason they don't glow in the dark is probably because BP sprays corexit over them when nobody's watching.  Of course China is also getting their share of toxic contamination and nuclear fallout from Japan which is sure to cement relations between the two...no fanatics on either side there.  Farther North there is the big bad bear, Russia to contend with.  Their fisheries are also destroyed even as the airborne plumes of fallout arrive with each Northwesterly breeze.  They have more crushing things to worry about, like giant sky rocks falling on them, they are likely as not just as deep in denial as the rest of the world, so no worries from Russia...lets hope.  I just keep wondering how long these neighbors of Japan's will remain peaceful as the accumulating international stress on both nerves and economies continues to build.  Wars have been started on far less provocation, and in some cases on lies alone, so lets hope things don't escalate badly for diplomacy, because we already have the radioactive fallout from world war three, we don't need the war as well!  Although I'm certain Henry Kissinger would disagree, considering he called populations "useless eaters" a few years back.
I guess the news this week about sums up the whole Fukushima denial syndrome.  On the same day President Obama mixed his sci-fi metaphors with the "Jedi mind-meld" remark in one press conference, while at a different one Speaker John Boehner said "Income tax is stealing from the American people."  Which comment do you think got all the pundits in a tizzy?  It wasn't the one from cryin' John!

It isn't the dizzying heights of absurdity to which everything has been taken that astounds me ... it's the total apathy and ostrich-like mentality.  We are acting like seven billion deer in the headlights, frozen into immobility by the magnitude of the monster under the bed.  The thing is, children, the monster isn't under the bed anymore, he's loose and on the prowl, and he isn't in our imaginations like so many years ago, he's very real.  It just defies logic that so many millions around the world choose to ignore the problem rather than unifying together to bring about the needed change.
I really do understand the mindset and process that allows us to hide from such unpleasant realities.  It's because we feel powerless to do anything.  We feel isolated, alone and are very apprehensive about the future, so we push those prickly thoughts and emotions into a dark corner of the sub-conscious mind...then when we aren't looking, we sweep it under the rug for full effect.  We ignore the monster on the loose because to acknowledge him is to abandon hope, the monsters favorite food.  If we meet his gaze the monster will devour our dreams and suck all the joy right out of the room...leaving us helpless, powerless and terrified.  It isn't really the monster we're hiding from, its our own fear we are so uncomfortable facing down.  Is the idea of doing that so much worse than lingering death and genetic mutations?  What is it gonna take to motivate you folks out there to stand up and fight for your collective best interest?  A sign from God himself??

Well how about a plague of locusts...like the one currently happening in Egypt, how's that for a sign?

The problem is, you think you have time.
