The big hope being floated by all the political pundits
& analysts is that if
I can go one better!
What if all of the Generation-X'ers and all of the Millennials turned out to vote?
What would that look like?
These groups of Americans are the most informed and educated citizens we've ever turned out. Better still they are the least racist, least violent, and most tolerant citizens of this country.
My big hope is that they all vote in this election.
If they don't, what the hell are they waiting for. This election is a gold plated invitation to change what's going on now, and to shape the future to match their collective visions.

ReplyDeleteIt's good to see Biden getting the old CDC pandemic response team back together, and I like hearing he said he's going to toss out a whole raft of Trumps doings...but the big question for me is Will Biden support prosecuting Trump, or pardoning him? If Biden gives Trump a pardon for his crimes to unify the nation, that will be our first sign that it's all just the same shit show.
DeleteI'm just so relieved Rump and his insidious crew are out. I agree that a pardon would be unacceptable, I can't imagine it could even be a possibility. And it will be the same shit show, different day, as that is what the presidency truly is. I just hope that things will get better for everyone, in all the ways that social justice has eroded under Rump, and also that the ultra rich will get ultra TAXED. I know, delusional, right?

I've struggled to understand Trumps appeal for 4 yrs now and the best I've come up with is he so popular because he gives his base permission to be their true selves. Not their best selves, but the person they aspire to be. Setting the bar pretty low. In his refusal to concede the election Trump has tried everything but holding his breath...maybe we should tell him Obama can hold his breath for 10 minutes!

Apologies if this posts twice, as my original vanished. But I was thinking that even if the millenials didn't vote en masse, the Native people of the Southwest did (some rode in to the polls by horseback, from very remote areas) and people of various colors and backgrounds and religions did, as well. They all turned the tide and saved our collective asses AGAIN. All of us are needed because the autocrats will try again, someday, and next time they will be more subtle than Mango Mussolini has been.
